Excellent!
You know, given what you want to do, I humbly suggest you take a look at
PHP. It's a web-development language which will allow you to do exactly
what you want : design your own system. Normally I'd suggest Java (bah to
the flamers) but it's a bit of an overkill for your goals.
You should visit http://www.php.net/ to find out more. Linux is an
incredible host for PHP-based applications, so there should be no worries
there. I've never had any issues with PostgreSQL, except that I didn't
start it the first time I installed it on my (now dated) Ubuntu machine. I
have to admit that I use it on the same machine, as the machines at work run
MySQL currently.
Your database is very small, so there's no worries there. PHP linked with a
database solution might just be what you want. That way you will have a
nice, web-based solution and it's very easy to work with.
