[xubuntu-users] problem with xubuntu 14.04 and huawei E355

hi,

downloaded, installed and updated xubuntu 14.04 beta yesterday. now, i am having a little problem with huawei E355 modem (http://www.huaweidevice.co.in/Products/MobileBroadband/E355.php). it is a router with USB and wifi hotspot creating ability. 


i could access the wifi hotspot created by it from the xubuntu 14.04 butwired connection is not working. it worked with ubuntu 12.04 and raring kernel backport (3.8 kernel series) without any intervention. to make it work in xubuntu 13.10 (with kernel 3.11 series), followed this guideline posted in a linux mint forum - http://forums.linuxmint.com/viewtopic.php?f=53&t=148990.

however, its not working in xubuntu 14.04. will really appreciate if anybody could provide some suggestion/workaround.
