I did something to fix the bad flash performance with this chip and it
seemed to fix the black background thing I was noticing. According to a
bug titled:
"Flash 11.2 content displays in shades of green and purple only, and in
a horizontally compressed space "
https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux/+bug/1212455
it says:
"WORKAROUND: Setting the Intel driver's acceleration method to UXA
rather than its default SNA *always* fixes the Flash problem..."
I did this and the flash worked OK and black background problem stopped.
It involves making a new xorg.conf and putting it in /etc/X11 and
setting acceleration to uxa...maybe just having the xorg.conf did
something - the intricacies are above my pay grade.
