[xubuntu-users] Does Java security alert affect us?

There is much current discussion of a serious vulnerability
in Java, or at least in some Oracle versions.

Some links from Slashdot:
http://www.zdnet.com/homeland-security-warns-to-disable-java-amid-zero-day-flaw-7000009713/
https://krebsonsecurity.com/2013/01/zero-day-java-exploit-debuts-in-crimeware/

My guess is that we are OK, because checking with Synaptic
I don't appear to be using an Oracle version. However, I am
not certain so it seems worth asking more knowledgeable
folk here.

Is checking with Synaptic enough? I think both Libre Office
and Firefox support Java. Do they use whatever is there in
Xubuntu, or link to their own Java libraries? If the latter,
are the libraries safe?
