Thanks for that. "xfce4-panel" brought the panel back.

I've been using Xubuntu for a few days now, and I'm trying to get the hang of it.
My screen froze a couple of hours ago and I pressed ctrl-alt-esc and clicked on the menu/tray at the top of the screen. Since then the menu has disappeared and I was wondering if someone could explain to me how to get it back.
If the whole panel has disappeared you can get it back by running (Alt+F2) "xfce4-panel", if only the menu has disappeared I think you could run "xfce4-menu-plugin", if not, you can right-click the panel on the place you want the menu and select "Add New Item" and then add "Xfce Menu".
Thanks
