[xubuntu-users] is it possible to control mouse via keyboard?

Good tip. I have such on my IBM Thinkpad T23. It works pretty well but is still
a strain on my fingers.
Good tip, though, and an intersting idea.
But surely there is a way to do this via keys? KDE supports a mode to use
the numeric keypad for simple direction, but (a) I don't use KDE and (b) I
want more than just simple direction - I need to be able to rapidly move,
which is why I was thinking of vi-like commands: hjkl for fine motion, ^F^B0H
for fast motion, ^U^D for something in between, etc. Ideally a map I can
configure as I see fit, like the regular keyboard shortcut mapping.
I haven't yet figured how to distinguish between mouse keystrokes and all
other keystrokes - <CTRL> and SHIFT are in use already. I don't use <ALT> much
(I don't use any keyboard shortcuts), and if there are an vi commands that use
the <ALT> key I don't use them, so it wouldn't conflict with anything I do.
Perhaps I should be asking this on the xorg mailing list, assuming there is
one.
