[xubuntu-users] Application button vanished

I just tried that. First I looked for the menu
$ ps ax | grep menu
 6101 ?        S
0:00 /usr/lib/xfdesktop4/xfce4/panel-plugins/xfce4-menu-plugin
socket_id 20971553 name xfce4-menu id 1 display_name Applications size
34 screen_position 1

then I killed it:
$ killall xfce4-menu-plugin

I could then still right-click on the upper panel and add the "Xfce
menu" back.

I like having a second user handy for similar oopses. Should be in the
admin group and have a strong password.

There are 6 by default: press <Ctrl+Alt+F1 to F6>
