[ubuntu-za] upgrade or not

Well I took the plunge.

It took me more than 3 hours to update my desktop to intrepid.
Part of the problem was that there was a small power failure in the
midst of the update.

This meant that the update got screwed up. What seemed to happen was
that the update programme found which files needed to be updated -
deleted these and started the updates and then bam - eskom or my
municipality or some nut or bolt in the system - the power went down for
a few minutes.

When I got booted up again, the system was somewhat screwed up. Lost
almost all my old settings and the update then just loaded a basic set.
Found that the kernel did not update and some things were messed up in
the settings - like the nvidia card, grub, login screens, firefox etc.

no matter, I got the intrepid kernel and then manually loaded that and
some of the missing programs. Works fine now.
Seems a bit faster than hardy... but the specs are very different on the
hardware between my laptop - production machine and the desktop - in
between server for apt-cacher ng, testing and general backup pc

running 32bit intrepid

desktop Hardware info.
