[ubuntu-za] upgrade or not

I would like to upgrade at some point - I have a question though - I'm
running 32bit Hardy, is it possible to upgrade to 64bit Intrepid? Also, is
64bit better or worse because it seems that a lot of software is not really
64bit friendly...
