[ubuntu-za] Getting the basics right - a reality bytes wishlist

Quite overwhelmed by the excellent responses to this thread. Downloaded an en_za package for OpenOffice which was broken, oops. Then found the myspell package at translate.co.za which is pretty good. Will definitely give it a bash with regard filing bugs and making it better. Pity there is no emergency offswitch for autocomplete and paragraph numbering in the OO file menu. Really stumped me in the middle of a deadline over the weekend and was about to through my computer out the window, when somebody piped up, try the text editor. So, at least a good couple of days to figure out that F12 seems to toggle this feature which is probably responsible for suicides, breakups and a lot more, more later.

For a localised GUI I would suggest installing the
openoffice.org-l10n-en-za package and for spell checking the
myspell-en-za package. I have just tested both and could not find any
problem with either, except for a few unrecognised words.
