Uprade path from LTS releases

I couldn't find any information in the wiki about upgrade paths from Dapper.

I know that to upgrade from release X to release X+2 you need to upgrade to X+1
first.
But Dapper is LTS, so I expect I'll be able to upgrade to the next LTS release
(whenever it will come out) directly.

I think a logical plan to achieve this is to permit upgrades to a certain
release (release X) from release X-1 *OR* the last LTS release.
So, when Feisty is released, you can upgrade from Edgy, but also from Dapper.
When Feisty+1 is released, you can upgrade from Feisty and from Dapper.
And so on, untill a new LTS Ubuntu release.
This way you get upgradability from LTS to LTS+1 releases for free.

Dapper LTS -------------------------------> LTS+1
   |  \  \ ________________________          ^
   |   \_________                  \         |
   |             \                  \        |
   '-> Edgy --> Feisty --> ... --> Feisty+N -'

That said, this only is my idea of the matter.
I'd like to know what's the official Ubuntu upgrade plan. Did you discuss it
already?

TIA,
