I'm running Lubuntu 13.04. Maybe you didn't get my reply quoting the answer
from our friend vasa1:
https://lists.ubuntu.com/archives/lubuntu-users/2013-October/005892.html
What he said makes sense:
$ apt-cache show lxpanel
Package: lxpanel
Priority: optional
Section: universe/x11
Installed-Size: 3279
Maintainer: Ubuntu Developers <ubuntu-devel-discuss at lists.ubuntu.com>
Original-Maintainer: Debian LXDE Maintainers <lxde-debian at lists.lxde.org>
Architecture: i386
Version: 0.5.12-0ubuntu2
Depends: libasound2 (>= 1.0.16), libc6 (>= 2.7), libcairo2 (>= 1.2.4),
libgdk-pixbuf2.0-0 (>= 2.22.0), libglib2.0-0 (>= 2.35.9), libgtk2.0-0 (>=
2.24.0), libiw30 (>= 30~pre1), libmenu-cache2, libwnck22 (>= 1:2.22),
libx11-6, lxmenu-data
Recommends: xterm | pavucontrol | gnome-alsamixer
Suggests: lxsession | menu, iceweasel | www-browser
Filename: pool/universe/l/lxpanel/lxpanel_0.5.12-0ubuntu2_i386.deb
Note that lxpanel above is from pool/universe
Now the same command against esound-common:
~$ apt-cache show esound-common
Package: esound-common
Priority: optional
Section: sound
Installed-Size: 80
Maintainer: Ubuntu Developers <ubuntu-devel-discuss at lists.ubuntu.com>
Original-Maintainer: Josselin Mouette <joss at debian.org>
Architecture: all
Source: esound
Version: 0.2.41-10ubuntu1
Conflicts: libesd-alsa0
Filename: pool/main/e/esound/esound-common_0.2.41-10ubuntu1_all.deb
Size: 9412
Supported: 9m
So this package is from pool/main.
So from vasa1 and https://help.ubuntu.com/community/Repositories/Ubuntu, I
believe (not sure) that both main and restricted repositories are the ones
supported by Canonical.
My 2 cents.
