I used dd today on a usb as it's quicker than burning DVD's Using a
blocksize of 1024 worked fine (2048 didn't).
sudo dd if=trusty-desktop-i386.iso of=/dev/sdb bs=1024 count=745472
sudo dd if=trusty-desktop-amd64.iso of=/dev/sdb bs=1024 count=754688
