Hmm, that's annoying.  At least it works, right? :)   I wouldn't have
any idea how to fix the light.  To apply these changes every boot, make
a file ~/.kde/Autostart/xmodmap.desktop with:

[Desktop Entry]
Exec=xmodmap /etc/X11/Xmodmap
Name=XModmap
Type=Application
X-KDE-StartupNotify=false

Make it executable with

chmod +x ~/.kde/Autostart/xmodmap.desktop

This isn't the best place to put it, but it works for me.
