[xubuntu-users] No scrollbar steppers in xfce4-terninal

How do I get scrollbar stepper arrows (the little triangle thingies at
the top and bottom of vertical scroll bars that scroll the contents up
or down by small amount) to appear in xfce4-terminal windows? I have/-
use/need a large scrollback value (~10000-15000 lines) and trying to
drag the scrollbar slider causes huge jumps and is virtually unusable.
Nor does my mouse have a wheel (I don't like that method anyway.)

On Fedora-23 which I am coming from I had to hunt around for a theme
that had the steppers [*] but no matter what theme I try in Xubuntu
(I've installed a bunch including Murine which I've been using on F23),
even if steppers appear in other windows (eg thunar) they don't in
xfce4-terminal. I'm running Ubuntu-server-17.10 + Xubuntu package.

[Deleted: a 400-line rant on how Gnome is destroying the usability of
Linux.]

[*] - I think; it is possible xfce4-teminal windows always had steppers
on F23 and the themes selection only affected other windows. I don't
remember.
