I agree with Roger and the preceding statements he made. I too advocate to
everyday users, especially those who can not afford proprietary systems. I
also advocate involvement with the development of any project they may have
an interest. Not all need to be technically inclined to have a gift to
share with the Linux community. An active community; however, is the
pentacle of our collective success.
I can also agree with Ralf in that Linux is not for everyone. My personal
observations suggest that is mostly a function of training by marketing of
the end user. They expect to see proprietary environment and to try and
emulate that will only end in failing to meet that expectation. We are an
easy to use, easy to maintain distribution that does the end user to take
some responsibility and effort for there system and education.
