This you describe is what I tried from the live dvd.
The live dvd will run without this error and an install of 14.04 on
another partition is not seeing this error.
This all started after a power failure and this MP-bios error began to
appear. Grub2 is fine and this error shows shortly after the 14.10 boot
begins.
If I knew what file to delete to kill the MP-bios it might reinstall
from the dvd but I have no idea.
