Andy, take a look here: http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=863742

The short is to (From the post):

"Actually, just fixed the problem using:

sudo rm /var/lib/apt/lists/* -vf
sudo apt-get update

All good now."

but read through the post to be sure you have a good fit since it is dated.
