[xubuntu-users] Catfish and menu editor problem

I did a fresh install of 14:04, everything went OK used catfish a couple 
of time then suddenly it would not open, trying to run from a terminal 
gives the following error

At around the same time as Catfish went awol I found I was unable also 
unable to open Menu editor or Main Menu in the settings window. Trying 
to open Menu Editor (menulibre) from a terminal gives the following error

Trying to run Main Menu (alacarte) from the cli gives the following error

These again were working but stopped, I cannot remember installing 
anything as most of the program that I needed to install had already 
been installed.

Can anybody advise
