[xubuntu-users] synaptic is not opening from the panel

hi,

i am using xubuntu 13.10. i have added "synaptic" in the panel through launcher. on clicking the launcher, synaptic was supposed to open and it was doing that until recently. however, this is not happening at present. clicking on the panel icon is not eliciting any response.

"sudo synaptic" in the terminal opens synaptic with the following output in the terminal - 

"(synaptic:5101): Gtk-WARNING **: GtkNotebook 0x1d755d0 is mapped but visible child GtkLabel 0x1db11b0 is not mapped".


i'll really appreciate if you could help me to identify the problem and solve it. 


PS: googling failed to solve it; and other launchers in the panel is working fine.
