All the required extras are there however, with a lot of help from my
son, the answer for users of xine is as follows:- run xine, select Setup
and set to Expert -> Apply, select media tab, scroll down to find
'device used for DVD playback' and change the entry to /dev/sr0 and
click OK. I closed and then restarted xine and sat back and enjoyed Star
Trek.
