I'd restate #2 as "Remove all but the relevant quoted context before
replying. Never top post: Always bottom post or interleave post."

Top posting and not removing irrelevancies is even worse than bottom
posting and not removing all the irrelevancies, at least on a mailing
list, as opposed to business communications, where everyone must CYA.
