I don't know the list's digest, but I suspect that there's no way to
keep the "thread" (In-Reply-To/References fields of the email headers)
for the original subject, when replying to a digest.
1. When breaking the thread, which never should be done, at least edit
the subject.
2. Remove irrelevant text, especially don't quote signatures. The
complete messages are always available by the list's archive.
3. Only inline or bottom post, never top post.
4. Never send HTML formatted mails, send plain text only.
5. Wrap lines at around 72 characters, only ignore it, send much longer
lines, when quoting code or terminal output.
6. Reply to the list only.
I likely have forgotten some other common mailing list rules.
