You wrote:

"I never lost any config files... but I also didn't re-install PA..
what command did you use to uninstall, I can put it on the command
line & see what it wants to remove."

Me:

I only get digests, not individual e-mails (in case it seems like I
don't respond right away).

The commands I used were as follows:

sudo apt-get remove --purge alsa-base pulseaudio

sudo apt-get install alsa-base pulseaudio

Then I forced a reload:

sudo alsa force-reload

I still didn't get any sound. That's when I reviewed what had been
removed, then reinstalled those components as well. In the interest of
*full* disclosure, I use Voyager 13.04 (a dandied up Xubuntu). This
*might* have had something to do with why some of my configuration files
were run over. In the meantime, evewrything is working as it should.

I *do* have this one question though:

It seems that the latest update removed the option to adjust
color/saturation when assigning desktop wallpaper. Has then in fact been
removed, or just moved elsewhere?

That was a nice feature.
