You might be able to install the 11.04 version of vbox. It gives
errors and does not install you could just update your whole system to
11.04, then update vbox and do your tests.
If you have the bandwidth, you could just update your system to 11.04,
then 11.10, then 12.04, and finally to 12.10 and not do a complete
reinstall. I updated by MythTV server from 10.10 to 12.04 a few
months ago this way.
