I've never had to use a ppa for nVidia. Ever. So, in Synaptic ditch that 
ppa. Then refresh. That should rid you of that cruft. "Additional 
Drivers" should do the trick for you, unless you ran that bin file 
directly from nVidia. Then it gets dicey. Ric
