Dr. Juan thanks for your contribution but please don't highjack my thread.
I'm looking for people to help me get to the heart of the problem, to file
a bug report and get it fixed.
I see that I'm not the only one, Another user describes the same thunar
related problem here:

he says:
"some devices do pop up automatically but others do not...."
"I have to click the item in
thunar or right click the icon that pops onto the desktop and choose
to mount it. "
