[xubuntu-users] (solved) 12.04: bootloader didn't install?

Thanks to those who responded. Turns out the issue was UEFI related. It's a fairly new concept to me, but I noticed that when I looked at the boot menu, my DVD drive showed up twice... once as UEFI, once as BIOS. I had been using the UEFI mode. Trying it in the BIOS mode, it appears to have installed successfully.
