This is like being stuck in a tarbaby.  Everyone seems to want a piece 
of this thread.  After starting with Red Hat and SuSe, I spent 5 years 
rolling my own with Linux From Scratch 
(http://www.linuxfromscratch.org/).  A CLI based system is exactly what 
you get when building your own system and before installing window 
managers and desktops.  So you are wrong:  I do know how linux works.  
And I do know what a derivative is.  The problem is that very few know 
the definition of the word "derivative" and, like you, think that if 
Ubuntu accepts it as "official" then that's the end of it.

Now, I don't care to discuss it any longer.
