[xubuntu-users] New to Xubuntu: For some reason the right side "Alt" key doesn't work...

It would appear that on Feb 22, Radomir Dopieralski did say:

Thanks for the clue. This is what I'm seeing in /etc/default/console-setup

XKBMODEL="pc105"
XKBLAYOUT="us"
XKBVARIANT=""
XKBOPTIONS="lv3:ralt_switch"

I'm thinking maybe the "lv3:ralt_switch" thingy???
But then again, I don't exactly have a 105 key keyboard on this
gateway laptop, more like 96 physical keys (99 if you count the power and
touchpad buttons...) But with other distros the default us keyboard the
installer set up, worked just fine. So I'm thinking maybe the XKBOPTIONS
are the culprit here... Any idea what "lv3:ralt_switch" is for???

Is this something that can simply be edited by hand, (then probably
reboot for full effect) or does one have to use a special command
and/or gui tool??? As XKBOPTIONS="" seems like a reasonable place to
start... In fact... I just scroogled lv3:ralt_switch And there are
several items saying XKBOPTIONS shouldn't be set to it... bug report
references etc... including :
 [Bug 76901] Re: right Alt key not recognized by default
 (www.mail-archive.com/ubuntu-bugs at lists.ubuntu.com/msg250515.html)

 So I'm gonna try XKBOPTIONS=""... I'll let you know later if this was
 in fact the problem...
