You can put the command "modprobe rtl8187" in /etc/rc.local. To do that, 
use the command

gksu mousepad /etc/rc.local

in a terminal and put the command before the "exit 0". Then the end of 
the file should look like this:

modprobe rtl8187
exit 0

Sorry, I can't help you with the blinking LED problem.
