[xubuntu-users] No Screen Blank or Shutdown Icons; Menu Not Working

   I have 9.04 installed on my wife's new Toshiba Satellite. Everything is
working except for shutting down the system.

   I cannot find the applications/icons to lock the screen (a closed padlock)
or shut down the system (a toggle switch) so I can put them on the panel.

   Worse yet, when I go to the menu Applications -> Shut down, nothing
happens when I chose that item. I have to issue 'sudo halt' in a terminal
and enter her password. Then the system goes through the logout process and
shuts itself off.

   This is the last issue to be resolved. I hope you folks can help me get it
done quickly.
