[xubuntu-users] Problems with Escape not generating KeyPressed events

Hello

I have a problem with my xfce4 configuration in xubuntu 9.10.
Escape generates the responce

FocusOut event, serial 31, synthetic NO, window 0x4000001,
    mode NotifyGrab, detail NotifyAncestor

FocusIn event, serial 31, synthetic NO, window 0x4000001,
    mode NotifyUngrab, detail NotifyAncestor

KeymapNotify event, serial 31, synthetic NO, window 0x0,
    keys:  8   0   0   0   0   0   0   0   0   0   0   0   0   0   0   0
           0   0   0   0   0   0   0   0   0   0   0   0   0   0   0   0

I'm new to xfce having used fluxbox previously and I have been editing
my ~/.config/xfce4/xfconf/xfce-perchannel-xml/xfce4-keyboard-shortcuts.xml
file to get the keymapings I want. Using the settingsmanager to reset
the setting doesn't fix the issue.

Could anyone please help?
