I'll test it out during X-mas holidays. Currently I'm using gdm-2.20.
I'll write up a howto on how to get it working. I finally understood
the problems I had after reexperiencing them on a different machine.

I doubt that GDM will be anything but bloatware (unless you use
gnome) ...
