[xubuntu-users] Why would removing samba-commone remove xubuntu-desktop

I have move a lot of services from my desktop machine to a dedicated
server so I'm now tidying up and removing unnecessary utilitie from my
dekstop machine.

When I try and remove samba-common it also removes xubuntu-desktop as
a dependency, why would this be?  Surely I can have xubuntu/xfce
without Samba installed.
