Edgy hit EOL (end of life) on April 25th 2008. In my view if these
machines are online its best to have security updates available. Hardy
is LTS (long term support).

You might have to do a major search for a mirror that hasn't removed
6.10 packages.

If your going to upgrade instead of a new install, absolutely do a
backup as its a cross your fingers senario.
