[xubuntu-users] Your Ubuntu is...?

Phil,

It sounds to me like the xsession start script is borked, try doing "Alt+F2"
and see if that gives you a run prompt, if so enter the command
"xfce4-panel" and that should bring up the panels at the top and the bottom,
you might need to also run "xfwm4" and "xfdesktop" to make everything fully
functional.
