[xubuntu-users] very beginner, and wifi question

Hi,
I have just installed xubuntu (6.10) on an "old" compaq laptop EvoN600c with
only 128RAM. I looks fine. I have no previous experience with Linux, during
installation I was told I had admin privilege using "sudo". Also i should
now make changes to the settings and when I happy with it run "sudo
oem-config-prepare".

First question: what is it recommended I check and maybe change in oem
more?, wifi connection for instance?

Secondly how do you get around with installing wifi (preferably it would be
a USB dongle Wlan USB2.0 from sagem), actually I don't think the USB on the
laptop is USB2.0, should that be a problem?

Hope I'll get some advice,
Thanks
Nemo
