[xubuntu-users] Software Updates, pptp, tsclient

Hi all

Installed Xubuntu 6.10 on my old Compaq Evo N110 PIII laptop and it's much
swifter than Ubuntu, which is what I'd hoped.

I'm a bit confused by the software updates that are available via Update
Manager. I have 59 available updates including, eg, gdm - GNOME Display
Manager from version 2.1.6.1-0ubuntu4 to 2.1.6.1-0ubuntu4.1 and firefox from
2.0+0dfsg-0ubuntu3 to 2.0.0.1+0dfsg-0ubuntu0.6.1.0. Are these updates
compatible with Xfce?

Second question. Under Ubuntu I ran pptp, pptpconfig and tsclient. This
enabled me to connect to remote Windows servers over a VPN. I can see these
apps in Synaptic but tsclient for example looks like it's a GNOME app. The
http://www.xfce.org/ page shows a fairly limited range of apps.
