Is it not too large? The other  xfce wallpapers in
/usr/share/xfce4/backdrops are all smaller. Looking at those I saw that
some,
including the current default one allow tweaking it's colour from the
desktop UI settings. That's nice.

I also lightened up a bit the gdm login screen and replaced the logo with

the usplash  should be 640x400 since the default vgafb resoultion has
changed since breezy. kubuntu-default-settings and
edubuntu-artwork both have 640x400 usplash images. Whenever that is ready I
can upload it.
