Jani,
Both the wallpaper and the loging screen are 1600x1200.
Is it not too large? The other xfce wallpapers in /usr/share/xfce4/backdrops are all smaller. Looking at those I saw that some,
including the current default one allow tweaking it's colour from the desktop UI settings. That's nice.
The ubuntu default is 1600x1200. This is pretty safe even for large monitors with high resolution settings.
I personally have never used those settings but I make a transparent version of the wallpaper
Update:
Now that the artworks are decided, I made some modifications in the wallpaper and the login screen. The trend seems to be in both ubuntu and kubuntu that they dont use logo any longer in the wallpaper; only the plain artwork. So, I took out the logo from the wallpaper as well.
ok.
I also lightened up a bit the gdm login screen and replaced the logo with the one using the new color scheme.
I am also working on a logo that might go into the installer; soon, I will upload it for viewing.
I've also touched up slightly the usplash.
the usplash should be 640x400 since the default vgafb resoultion has changed since breezy. kubuntu-default-settings and
edubuntu-artwork both have 640x400 usplash images. Whenever that is ready I can upload it.
Usplash is done. Uploaded to the xubuntulooksteel page.
