[ubuntu-za] Unity and Gimp

This is what I had when I ran Gimp from the terminal and exported a file:

bill at Zita:~$ gimp

(gimp:9790): Gtk-CRITICAL **: IA__gtk_tree_model_get: assertion
`GTK_IS_TREE_MODEL (tree_model)' failed

(script-fu:9802): LibGimpBase-WARNING **: script-fu: gimp_wire_read(): error
Segmentation fault (core dumped)
bill at Zita:~$

Then I looked atthe error report that Ubuntu was about to send off and
found that it said that i did not have a standard version of Gimp. Hmm. So
I did a complete de-install and a re-install using Synaptic. (I don't think
that I installed Gimp from a non-standard repository, but what I did
yesterday is a bit hazy in my memory bank).

Once the installation was complete, I tried the same thing again - load a
jpeg file and export it to another jpeg file. It worked. Now I could export
jpeg files under Unity just like I could under Xubuntu!

I ran around the house a few times shouting, "Joy! Joy! Joy!"

Then I came back to my computer and tried Exporting the same file to .png
and got:

bill at Zita:~$ gimp

(gimp:11912): Gtk-CRITICAL **: IA__gtk_tree_model_get: assertion
`GTK_IS_TREE_MODEL (tree_model)' failed

(script-fu:11924): LibGimpBase-WARNING **: script-fu: gimp_wire_read():
error
Segmentation fault (core dumped)

Hmmm.

Exactly the same thing happens when I try exporting to .tiff.

Wierd.

Bill

I would just like to emphasise again that this all works perfectly under
Xubuntu.
