Hmm. So I did a complete de-install and a re-install using Synaptic. (I don't think that I installed Gimp from a non-standard repository, but what I did yesterday is a bit hazy in my memory bank).<br>
<br></div>Once the installation was complete, I tried the same thing again - load a jpeg file and export it to another jpeg file. It worked. Now I could export jpeg files under Unity just like I could under Xubuntu!<br><br>
