Hi Jan. here is a fix I'm sure
https://help.ubuntu.com/community/LiveCdRecovery

Anyway here is how I setup my drives

Boot from cd and choose install, when it gets to partitions choose other
and make your first partition / and I make it 50gig to be safe
I use a small 2g partition as /boot
Then a large /home
Then if its a large drive I add at the end a partition I call /storage
Then if you crash your pc you reinstall and only format root /
and /boot and use the other partitions as ext4 but dont format then you
install and the undeleted /home remembers all your email addresses etc
Lately I have made a remastersys dvd of 3.7gig and that can boot from
the dvd as if you were on your drive or you can do the install and it
installs everything for you like your working drive
http://askubuntu.com/questions/133272/how-do-i-install-remastersys
dont forget we are on #ubuntu-za
Good luck
Miles
