Hi All,

This problem still exists, and I'm hoping that someone who may not have
seen it over the weekend will have some ideas. To recap:

1) Fresh 13.04 install. All was good till I linked to my pre-existing
home folder in a separate partition.
2) Then, login screen remains as desktop background - I'm unable to get
right-click menus on desktop - I'm unable to change desktop background -
system hangs quite often (sometimes critically) when I minimise or close
a window (not consistent).

My own thinking agreed with the advice that I've received so far, saying
that the problem obviously relates directly to my home folder. With this
in mind, I have done the following, but without any success:

1) Reset compiz settings (using the new method)
2) Deleted all hidden folders & files in my home folder, with the
exception of the Thunderbird & Virtualbox folders, which I need.

While logically this should have some effect, it does nothing, and the
problem remains.

I set up a test user, and as expected, there is no problem when I log in
as the test user.

I really hope that someone might have a fresh insight into this problem
on this Monday morning. Thanks again to those who've already given
advice, and thanks in advance to the genius whose going to (hopefully)
figure this out.

Robin
