Good question!

I am just a home user. Photography (lots of Gimp), desktop publishing
(Scribus), lots of word processing, some Python to keep the brain
cells ticking (my history is 1960s assembly languages > Fortran and
Cobol > Pascal and now Python but that's another story), GPS stuff and
so on. At the moment I am running on 2 Gig memory and dual 2.13 Ghz
processors without major problems although I sometimes get frustrated.

In addition I want the new machine to act as a file and print server
for my other machines around the house - both for backup and for
moving files around. (I have another 500 Gig drive that I will install
on it). However, the load from being a server would be very light.

Lee's machine sounds wonderful, but I think that I could get rid of
all the other machines in the house too if I had one like that!

Thanks,
  Bill
