Hehe hi there Jan, try installing Mate

Then when you boot , where it gets to password in the top right of the
password window tick that little icon there. a gear i think or a foot
and choose mate and things will be like before. mostly anyway.
By ticking that little icon you can change back to unity on next boot by
choosing ubuntu.
Im using mate and find it much more like old ubuntu gnome2 with a
different colour. I like unity but find mate much faster
