Hi Wikus,

I merely went into Ubuntu Software Centre, and selected Thunderbird's
optional calender add-on - "Calender Extension for Thunderbird - Google
Calender Support".

Everything then works exactly as it has always done. If I right-click
the calender list, I have the option to create a new calender, or to
import one of my Google ones, in fact, it found my active Google
Calenders and synced them automatically.

It is also possible to set up Thunderbird calender to sync for offline use.
