[ubuntu-za] Hangups on Ubuntu 12.04

When viewing photographs in e-mail attachments, if I click on the "next" 
arrow, my system appears to try to open

*file:///tmp/hpcupsfilters_1.bmp (or it may be _l.bmp) *

and then freezes.

It does not recover, I have to switch off the power supply and reboot.

I have tried, unsuccessfully, to find this, what appears to be a temp 
file in the directories to delete it. A Google search also shed no light 
on the problem.

It appears as if this happens when I inadvertently click "next" when 
there is no "next" photo to open.

Any suggestions, please?
