Depends on what you want to do with your iPhone? If you want to sync music,
Rhythmbox will work just fine. It has native iPhone/iPod support. I am not
too sure about apps and other things though.

Maybe use Rhythmbox to quickly dump some tunes for the day, and then fire up
the old virtual box if you want to sync other fancy things like apps and so
on!
